Maybe it was this?

It also ?>worked fine viewing the screen of the G3, back when it had its monitor. But ?>now that the monitor is gone (I need it for the G4), all I get is a postage ?>stamp size window with an arrow cursor in it and some other tiny things. ? ?The G3 has detected that the monitor is disconnected - I'm actually ?surprised that you get any screen at all. What you need to do is make a ?dummy plug that will fool the G3 into thinking that a monitor is connected. ? ?I suggest that the best way is to use the 'old mac' sensing system that ?uses the larger 15pin (2row) D connector (IIRC the G# comes with a VGA ?connector and an adapter for older Mac monitors). ? ?Link the following pins : ? ?Mode Link ?13" (640x480) pin 4 to Gnd ?21" (1024x768) pin 10 to Gnd ?These give a fixed resolution, Gnd is Pin 11 (amongst others). ? ?For multisync, link pins 10 and 7 : ?Directly (wire) gives 13", up to 832x624 ?With a diode (10 -|<|- 7) gives 17", up to 1024x768 ?With a diode (10 -|>|- 7) gives 21", up to 1152x870 ? ?For multisync monitors, the default is to select the highest resolution ?when first connected, but after that it will remember the user setting. ? ?Simon ?--------------------------------------------------------------------- ?To unsubscribe, send a message with the line: unsubscribe vnc-list ?to [EMAIL PROTECTED] ?See also: http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/intouch.html ?--------------------------------------------------------------------- Jake Hoover -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, July 23, 2002 12:51 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Headless booting Ok, I'm going out of my mind over here trying to find something I saw on the internet about a year ago. I'm hoping some of you have also seen it. It plugs into you keyboard port and gives the computer proper signaling, tricking the computer into thinking there is a keyboard connected. They made a similar adaptor for the mouse port. I'm not looking for a KVM switch. All it was only a keyboard asic soldered onto the end of a keyboard connector. But it worked great. Some machines (most) require a keyboard to be connected. I want to setup an array of VNC machines, and get rid of the keyboards and mice. _______________________________________________ VNC-List mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.realvnc.com/mailman/listinfo/vnc-list _______________________________________________ VNC-List mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.realvnc.com/mailman/listinfo/vnc-list
