Sorry, if this was already discussed here.

On the days there was a thread in Usenet group comp.emacs.xemacs (with
first message at <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>) about the non-standard
way Xvnc maps modifiers (and XEmacs makes annoying warnings about
that).

The solution seems to be:

unix% xmodmap -
clear mod1
add mod1 = Alt_L Alt_R

I.e., removing Meta_R and Meta_L from mod1 list. I didn't notice any
negative effects in vncviewer (X one =). Are there any?

What do the Meta_L and Meta_R modifiers, anyway? I don't see them in
XFree86 bound by default.
