There are a number of possibilities here.  Have you disabled WinXP's
firewall?  Are the two cards on different subnets so the WinXP machine knows
where to send a response.  Is there any reason why you don't just take one
of the NICs out and connect your old PC to the rest of the network instead
of to the WinXP machine?
