Hi all,
I have been trying to get the vnc server to work on my W2K system which
is running in a VMWare virtual machine on my Linux box. The vncclient is
running on a Win98 box over ISDN. When I try to login to the W2K server
I enter the server password and am immediately disconnected. I am
getting the following log messages:
D:\ORL\vss\winvnc\vncDesktop.cpp : bitmap dimensions are 640 x 480
D:\ORL\vss\winvnc\vncDesktop.cpp : created memory bitmap
D:\ORL\vss\winvnc\vncDesktop.cpp : got bitmap format

D:\ORL\vss\winvnc\vncDesktop.cpp : DBG:used/bits/planes/comp/size = 0/4/1/0/153600
D:\ORL\vss\winvnc\vncDesktop.cpp : attempting to enable DIBsection blits
D:\ORL\vss\winvnc\vncDesktop.cpp : unable to enable fast blits
D:\ORL\vss\winvnc\vncService.cpp : SelectHDESK to Default (40) from

(Err=170)
D:\ORL\vss\winvnc\VSocket.cpp : closing socket
D:\ORL\vss\winvnc\vncDesktop.cpp : killing screen server
D:\ORL\vss\winvnc\vncDesktop.cpp : failed to ReleaseDC
What does work is the accessing of my Linux box (also has a vnc server
running). When I start the W2K system from within the Linux VNC server I
see only a black screen (complains about mouse and graphic modes) but
starting the W2K in VGA mode works fine. The only problem is that the
mouse does not work correctly, but it is sort of possible to work with
the system.
I would however much prefer to access the W2K system directly - maybe
then I can use a higher screen resolution and the mouse will work. Does
anyone have any ideas what the problem is?
Thanks in advance,
Simon Woods
