You could have a registry confusion. I you are running it as a service,
then open regedit and delete h_key_currentuser/software/orl/winvnc3
Stop and restart the service and all should be fine.

Ok then what else would case a authenication failed error if I am
getting
the password correct?

Phillip...

VNC was written so that the server properties always shows a password
length
of 8 characters, despite the actual number of characters in the
password.
Can't give you a good reason why, but that's the way it is.

When i try to connect to the server through the vnc viewer I get
vnc
authenication failed error. So I load up the vnc server properties to
change the password. Then I try to connect again and I get the same
error.
I noticed thought that the password doesn't seem to be changing. It
is a
password with 8 characters, and ill change to a password with maybe 5
characters press apply then ok then when I load the properties again
its
back at 8 characters, even it I change it to a password of 10 or more
characters it doesnt change. Any suggestions?

  Thanks
  Phillip Smith
