hello, please tell me EXACTLY how to do.
here are my experiences until now:

i installed the VNC controls on both machines and added the system
extension.

how should i configure the TCP/IP control panel of each computer in order to
make a connection posible?

the iMac (that i want to be a server) tells me that my IP is 0.0.0.0 (= no
IP?) and doesn't store any changes except the display name.

when i try to establish a connection, i start the VNC server in the iMac and
the VNC viewer on the G4. the viewer tells me the following errors

- Notifier: T_OPENCOMPLETE result -3264
- Connection Listener Dies. You might want to restart the viewer
- Notifier: T_OPENCOMPLETE result -3205
- Flash Listener Dies. You might want to restart the viewer

and then locks up at once. sometimes the iMac locks up some seconds later.

and sometimes a "blocking error" or something like this. i don't remember
exactly and didn't memorize how to make this error come up.
:] (who memorizes errors?)

i tried the following settings in the TCP/IP panel:

1.
Connection: Ethernet
Config method: manual
IP-Address: 1.1.1.1
part net mask: 255.255.255.255
router address: [ ] (nothing)
name server address: [ ] (nothing)
domain name: [ ] (nothing)

(i'm not a professional as you can see, just a try. the words may be
different, i use ther german OS 9.1 / 9.2)

2.
Connection: Ethernet
Config method: BootP server
IP-Address: < given by server >
part net mask: < given by server >
router address: < given by server >
name server address: < given by server >
domain name: [ ] (nothing)

3.
Connection: Ethernet
Config method: DHCP server
DHCP Client ID: iMac
IP-Address: < given by server >
part net mask: < given by server >
router address: < given by server >
name server address: < given by server >
domain name: [ ] (nothing)

4.
Connection: Ethernet
Config method: RARP server
IP-Address: < given by server >
part net mask: [ ] (nothing)
router address: [ ] (nothing)
name server address: [ ] (nothing)
domain name: [ ] (nothing)

5.
Connection: AppleTalk (Mac IP)
Config method: MacIP server
MacIP server zone: < actual AppleTalk zone >
IP-Address: < given by server >
name server address: < given by server >
domain name: [ ] (nothing)

6.
Connection: AppleTalk (Mac IP)
Config method: MacIP manual
MacIP server zone: < actual AppleTalk zone >
IP-Address: 1.1.1.1
router address: [ ] (nothing)
name server address: [ ] (nothing)
domain name: [ ] (nothing)

as you can see i tried many varities. but as i'm a thumb beginner it just
was try and error (with "error in every case :] ).

and i have a further question: is it possible to use the VNC over the
ethernet-network AND use the remote access (to dial into the www) at the
same time?
this is what i want to do in the end: use the iMac as a kind of "internet
router".

please help me using this application.
(and excuse my bad english).
