Hello, Without ssh, is it better to connect from a PC veiwer to a solaris server over the internet, or the following: start the solaris server with -localhost, telnet into the sun box and use vncconnect to make the server connect to your remote PC viewer.
In the first case, you rely on VNC's challenge/response to authenticate, and apparently, your password is not transmitted in the clear. However, your are vulnerable to someone repeatedly attempting a connection to your server. In the second case, you rely on solaris to deal with repeated attempts to telnet into the host sunbox, which may (or may not) be better than vncserver's. You pay the price of having to telnet in, which means your password is transmitted in the clear. Thanks for opinions on which is the lesser of two evils. f. __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
