If you need to connect to a VNC server over the Internet, and you
have a dynamic IP (i.e., your Internet Service Provider allocates a
different address every time you connect) -- this is sometimes
described as NAT, though this usage is confusing -- you can use
various services which supply you with a fixed Internet address.
Every time you connect to the Internet, a program running on your
system updates an Internet directory entry. This is often called
Dynamic DNS (DDNS). Some services are free of charge, others not.

Amongst others, www.no-ip.org. This lets you connect to, say,
myaddress.no-ip.org, instead of requiring a permanent numeric
address.

If everybody knows this, apologies for the waste of bandwidth!
