Hello Mathew.... We use vnc and windows XP all the time, and have no such problems... So:
The good news is that it works! The Bad news. I can't see the error from your description... When you say it don't work, what exactly happens? When you look at the helper programm (Started with the icon at the bottom of the screen) what portno does it show... I ask this since I've often found that the winvnc started with the service usually has 0 and the one started by hand usually has 1... Are you trying to access the correct port-no? Debug Procedures.... Since you cannot be at the local and remote places simulataneously, you need some procedures to debug without the viewer... This is usually done with "telnet localhost 59xx", xx stands for the port number mentioned above (either 00 or 01).. this will do one of 2 things: 1) connection refused (winvnc is not ready on that port) or 2) write a couple of lines about enconding and other techy stuff...
