The current beta version of TightVNC allows this kind of selection.. but it's still a 
beta.

I will probably add the same easy selection to eSVNC soon. The current "Single Window" 
code
is 3 years old and I haven't revised it since 2000...

That's right, eSVNC main enhancements can't be used in others OSs, but eSVNC is not
completely Window selfish:
- You can take advantage of WinVNC speed anhencements from any other OS viewer 
(including Javaviewer)
- You can also use the server screen scaling in some ways.
That's right, you must be under windows to use FileTransfer, cache and others.
I'd really like to have time and skills to work on the linux version... but that's not 
the case.
Anyway I can say that I plan to work on porting eSVNC main enhancements into the Java 
Viewer.
