I have the same kind of issues as Damon below, but in a different context. On Thu, Nov 28, 2002 at 11:13:24AM -0500, Timothy J. Mine: NT VNC server, RealVNC 3.3.5, sshd v1.0.2 from http://caspian.dotconf.net/menu/Software/SSHD-NT/default.php (Also have vncserver 3.3.4 on RH7.1 linux test box) Client Windows ME, Putty ssh client 0.53b (www.chiark.greenend.org.uk) , RealVNC 3.3.5 client > > VNC server runs successfully when viewed over a direct ethernet connection same here > > SSH server runs successfully when a simply login connection is established > > using: > > > > ssh <Win2Khost> Similar, can ssh to the NT box with PuTTY from the ME. > > However, I cannot get port forwarding to work with sshd<->vncserver. I run: Being on ME I don't have the commandline ssh. Putty has a dialog for port forwarding setup, where I ask for the equivalent L 5901:localhost:5900 to try and set up to the NT box, or L 5902:localhost:5901 to try to tunnel to the Linux box. Just once or twice I have seen successful 'forwarding from port 5902 to localhost:5901' (or ..1 to ..0) messages in the putty Event log. On those occasions VNC worked. Then afer exit, do exactly the same ssh tunnel setup and no port forwarding is set up. I appreciate that this is more a PuTTY problem than a VNC one - but has anyone else experienced it? Alternatively I wonder if I might be better off finding a way to run ssh direct from a commandline on the ME box - is there a good source for that somewhere?
