Your colourmap is full; vncviewer is unable to allocate the colours it needs.
You can fix this by:
1) Closing other applications. Check for a running vncviewer; web browsers
(such as Netscape) often allocate many colours too.
2) Use a private colourmap (will cause funky colours in other apps when
you're in vncviewer, and in vncviewer when you're in other apps, though):
vncviewer -owncmap
3) Reconfigure your X server to TrueColour, if possible.
