Ok I have two computers LAN'd with static IP's. I have the VNC server running on the computer 192.168.1.100. On this computer if I go to the browser and type http://192.168.1.100:8500 <http://192.168.1.100:8500/> I can access the remote desktop in loopback mode I think. If I go to the other computer on the LAN and enter the same it just comes up with the usual unable to find screen. I do not have a firewall enabled on either so why wouldn't it work. After I sort this out I want to access the 192.168.1.100 computer via a browser from the net. I have a router so what ports do I need to open? I am using Dynees to assign my dynamic IP with a static user friendly name. I am using XP Pro Can anyone help please?
