I have been able to change the home directory by editing the /etc/passwd
file.

Is there a way to make it the root so that CD won't take the user out of it.

For example, I defined the root as /cygdrive/c/subdir
If I do a CD .. from the shell it takes me to /cygdrive/c
the second CD .. takes me to /cygdrive
and the third CD .. to / (the Cygwin dir).

I want to freeze the root point at /cygdrive/c/subdir

TIA
Carl
