I also connect to corporate lan using Secure Remote and have the same symptoms. Is it possible that your corporate lan blocks all ports except 80 (and maybe 21 and 443)? If so you'll have to futz with port settings in VNC to get it to listen on one of the open ports in your corp firewall.
