I just recently installed a new server. It's a dual-Xeon 2.4GHz box, with Hyperthreading enabled. This causes the system to act as if it had 4 physical CPUs (although there are only 2).
The VNC server performance on this machine is /horrible/. Even on the same 100mbit lan, the remote mouse trails well behind the local. On the same LAN, from the same client, but to a 700MHz Celeron (single CPU), VNC is almost indistinguishable from actually being at the computer. I can only believe that there is something about the new machine that doesn't play nicely with VNC. I suspect that it has to do with the (effectively) 4 CPUs in this box. Dual CPU boxes don't have this problem. Does anyone have any experiences like these? Jordan P.S. (I'm resending this with the "From" address that I signed up under, since I didn't see my post after a day or so.) _______________________________________________ VNC-List mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.realvnc.com/mailman/listinfo/vnc-list
