I have found a post or two here and there about this issue, but never any
ideas or responses, so I thought I would throw out another line and see what I
get...

We have a large distributed Novell based network where VNC is the primary
remote control software. It has worked flawlessly up until now. We recently
upgraded our Client to version 3.32.0.0 SP1 and are in the midst of upgrading
all the servers to NW6. After the client upgrade, almost all of the Windows 9x
machines are experiencing errors and locking up. All machines are popping up a
white error box, with no error description, with only a close button. This
usually happens after 2-4 hours of inactivity. Clicking the close button,
closes the box and then VNC closes. The machine has to be rebooted to regain
stability. If the machine is being used frequently enough, it will eventually
pop up an error box declaring there aren't enough resources or memory to
complete the operation. A reboot fixes either and the person can again work
for several hours. If VNC is not installed as a service, we never have any
problems.

We have seen on one machine (win 95 machine here in the office) where the
white box actually contained a description of the error. It gave that it
WinVNC caused a GPF in kernel32.dll.

We have tried several versions of VNC but none of them relieved the problem.

Aside from downgrading the Novell client, or disabling the VNC service, anyone
have any ideas? Novell is working on this for us, but I am not optimistic.
