Dear Mr. Camps,
The second option should work, but you may have to throttle the
bandwidth of the connecting machines in order for all simultaneous users to have a
decent share of the bandwidth. The maximum speed of any single user would be 25.6 Kb,
provided that all 5 users would be connecting at the same time, therefor you must use
the low bandwidth optimized VNC viewers and servers. With these in place, however, the
second option you mentioned is very much a viable solution. Hope what I said helps!
Sincerely,
Christopher Koeber

Subject: Resources Question

Hi all,

I'm in a project to move some MS Access aplications to a GNUyFLinux based
solution. We wi ll sta rt with a GNU/Linu x serve r, and the new
applications should be accessible everywhere (client platform independent and LAN or
WAN connections).

We are considering two different options:
1) Use some web based solutions
2) Use GTK applications + VNC

We have a small bandwidth for WAN connections, only 128 Kb, and we should be able to
serve at least 5 simultaneous modem users. Do you think that the option 2 is possible
? We can use low color configurations (256), and do any other optimization needed.

Thanks a lot

Santi Camps
