Hello,
I'm trying to run the VNC viewer only (not server) version 3.3.6 from a
high end Dell Precision 330 workstation. When I double click on the
executable to start the viewer, nothing happens - no window pops up nor
does a "Connection" dialog box appear. I will then get the error message
that says "The instruction at "0x0040b84c" referenced memory at
"0x0087a000". The Memory could not be "read". Click OK to terminate the
program, or click CANCEL to debug the program". If the debugger is run,
it will report that "An exception "Unhandled Win32 Exception" has occurred
in vnc-3.3.6-x86_win32_viewer.exe.
I've tried running the executable from the hard drive, from a network
drive, and from a floppy disk with the same results.
This only happens on the Precision workstations. I can run it on
other machines just fine.
Here is one other interesting twist. IF I log in as administrator, then
the program will run on the workstation. BUT, if I grant administrator
priviledges to another user account, and log in under that user account,
the program will NOT run despite having administrator priviledges. I would
expect that it should run OK.
If anyone has any leads or thoughts, please reply. HELP. Thanks. :)
PS: The workstations run Windows 2000, SP3, all currently patched, and log
into to a Novell NetWare 5 network with Novell client 4.83 SP1. Normal
local Windows accounts have restricted user priviledges. Machine has 512MB
RAM.
