Hah!  Not what I meant at all. :)

I assume this is a rhetorical question,
but I'll answer anyway. Given my limited capacity to remember the plethora
of command names, parameters, conf files, etc I appreciate the ability to
browse files, directories, and menus, and have a desktop with multiple
editors and terminals open, its more productive, especially when you don't
know what you're doing :)
Well, you can always have multiple ssh sessions open. That's what I do all the time. I still firmly believe that win2k kicks the ass (without major customization) of trying to actually use linux on the desktop. There is simply way more stuff (trivially) available for win32, like it or not. So, I feel that win2k is the best OS for the desktop, and any other tasks you need to do, you can do via ssh. If it comes down to it, you can always run cygwin's X server, and get a GUI for whichever GUI-only linux app you need to use.
