On Solaris,

It is even better to run Xvnc with the -query option.

As a general rule, on Solaris it's better to run /usr/dt/bin/Xsession
instead 
of trying to start just dtsession. /usr/dt/bin/Xsession sets up the
entire 
CDE environment. Hopefully, running Xsession should fix your problem.
