Well, my message wasn't really an answer. It's rather a viewpoint. Ctrl+Esc and Alt+Tab are useful for people who use keyboard a lot more than mouse. But if it's necessary to do click on Ctrl-down, press Esc and then click on Ctrl-up, clicking directly the Start button is much simpler :-)
