The "retain session" feature you desire should be possible by removing
the "-once" flag from the inetd setup.
BTW, you don't have to set up all of those sessions, you can also have
it dynamically allocate sessions for you. I'm working on a mini-HOWTO
that is unrelated to the link you gave describing my own experiences.
It needs a little more work and I'm still trying to figure out what I
need to do to make gdm work as well; xdm works if kdm is not available.
