Hello,
Firstly, I'm very impressed with VNC - very reliable, and it seems to do
just what I'm looking for.
However I have a question,
I will be installing VNC on systems for my client so that our engineers
can remotely configure and diagnose systems on site.
The client I am working with is very concerned with bandwidth, i.e. they
do not want us using too much of the available bandwidth to a site as
lots other systems (most of which of more critical than ours) will be
using the same connection.
The remote system is connected via a 10Mbps connection to a LAN at the
remote end, we will access the remote site over our clients WAN (using
IPClear, with a 256k ISDN backup). However the actual bandwidth that
will be available to us may be significantly less than this.
>From what I understand the VNC protocol adapts itself to the bandwidth
available. I have used VNC over a modem connection at 33.6Kbps - and it
perfectly useable for what we want. Is there anyway of forcing VNC into
using a certain bandwidth limit (ie 33.6Kbps).
Thanks,
Keith Rathband.
