I don't know about installing via logon, but there's a great set of remote install scripts called "fastpush" that I use here at work. On our LAN/WAN, once we got everything set up, I can install vnc in an average of 30 seconds to any machine. Also, it gives the ability to go out and install vnc on batches of machines at once. We installed on all of the machines that were turned on at the time, worked great!
