Hi I have 3.3.7. Server running fine on RedHat Linux 8. Client also on RH8 also working fine.
Now trying to set up client on Windows NT4 with SP6. Using Putty with Pageant. Verified that Putty config using same ports etc as for RH8 client. I start Putty session. Get RH8 server login prompt in local Window. Log in as root OK. Netstat shows SSH connection on port 22. Run VNC client via desktop icon. Get little 'Connection details' window. Enter there localhost:5 (same as for Linux client). Click OK. Connection details window disappears. Nothing else happens. No error message of any sort. Nothing at all. I was expecting a Window to pop up with remote X display (same as I see on RH8 client). Just get nothing at all. Am I missing something simple here. The Putty help text has "In order to use this feature, you will need an X display server for your Windows machine, such as X-Win32 or Exceed. This will probably install itself as display number 0 on your local machine; if it doesn't, the manual for the X server should tell you what it does do.". Do I indeed need to install some X software on NT ?. I thought VNC would make this irrelevant ?. Any other suggestions ?
