Am trying to set up VNC to go back and forth from my home, office and laptop computers. Posted a message a few hours ago under [EMAIL PROTECTED], and this is now at my office.
1. VNC in both server and listen mode are installed on the laptop, and can access the desktop office machine when the laptop is plugged into our small 4-machine network. It is accessing the full screen desktop quite nicely. I do not know if it is doing this across the internet or via our network. How do I tell? 2. On laptop, I've installed it three times. Cannot get the vnc icon to place itself into the quicklaunch sys tray so can find out the IP address for the laptop. Presumably there is an alternate way to get a machine's IP address. What is it? 3. I cannot ping my office desktop from my home machine or home machine from the office. This would require a ping across the internet. Needless to say, VNC will not work, either. Both machines are on DSL lines. One machine is an XP, the other Win ME. I've disabled Fast User Switching and tried to do so with Remote Administration on the XP machine. Any help would be appreciated. Sent a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] as well, and am willing to pay for the support. Thanks.
