Well, you didn't seem to mention which OS you want to do this on. For Win9x/NT/2K/XP, you can use the netstat command and look for established connections to port 5900 (or 5800; or whatever port VNC is listening on). Here's an example from Windows XP Professional: -----BEGIN EXAMPLE----- Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600] (C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp. C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>netstat -an Active Connections Proto Local Address Foreign Address State <BIG SNIP> TCP 192.168.69.100:5900 192.168.69.1:2275 ESTABLISHED <SMALL SNIP> C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator> -----END EXAMPLE----- So, as you can probably guess, my firewall/router <192.168.69.1> has an active VNC (APP) connection to one of my PCs at home <192.168.69.100> -- this is because I am tunneling VNC through my SmoothWall's SSH service.
