The only possible reason why you would have to use port 14 is that there is a 
firewall in the way. If there really is no firewall, just let VNC use its 
standard ports. Have you read the tips at http://www.realvnc.com/faq.html#5 
and http://faq.gotomyvnc.com/fom-serve/cache/63.html? If that doesn't help, 
you'll have to describe what is between your two computers for anyone to be 
able to help you.

You should also know that VNC isn't secure enough to use over the Internet. 
You should use something like SSH, Stunnel or Kaboodle to secure the 
connection.
