Hi All,
I have a strange problem. I have a production machine running Linux that
I'm about to install at a remote location, and I want to be able to see the
desktop and walk someone through a problem if necessary. To accomplish
being able to share the same session as the person at the console, I'm
running vncserver and vncviewer on the same box with vncviewer as the local
window manager attaching to localhost:1. The utility of it is great, and it
works like I expect, except one thing: if you are at the console and you
switch back and forth between X and a one of the tty console screens, about
every fourth of fifth time you switch the keyboard starts printing garbage
no matter what keys you press, and you have to reboot the machine. There is
no way to press Ctrl-Alt-Del or Ctrl-C or anything. It all just results in
more garbage being printed across the top of a blank black screen.
Does anyone know what is causing this? I've read a few things about the
keyboard losing focus, but it was all related to vncviewer on Windows OS.
Does vncviewer on Linux also have this problem, and is there a workaround?
My configuration is as follows:
1. IBM x225 server
2. RedHat 6.2 w/ kernel 2.4.x (I've tried several kernels in the 2.4 release
with this box, the current one being 2.4.22)
3. VNC 3.3.7
geometry=1024x768
depth=16
4. vncserver startup command: vncserver -dontdisconnect :1
5. vncviewer startup command: vncviewer -fullscreen -shared localhost:1
Any help is appreciated. I've been Googling this for several days and
trying everything I can think of...
