I'm dealing with an issue where I have VNC 3.3.3r9 installed on several
Windows 2000 SP4 servers. Every once in a while, usually 2 or 3 times
a month I have happen where while I am connected to the server and
trying to click on a desktop icon, say My Computer, and open it, it
will instead highlight ever icon on the desktop and open every one
instead of just My Computer. It's almost as if the Shift key or
something of that nature is being held down at the same time so that
multiple items are selected, only I'm not holding the shift key down.
If I go into the task manager and look at the services. VNC will
appear to have a memmory leak. It will be eating up more and more ram
and crunching CPU time at the same instance. I have tried in the past
to stop and restart the service, but that doesn't fix it. As soon as I
restart it it picks right back up where it left off. I have tried
stopping and restarting explorer.exe too. That also doesn't fix it.
The only thing that I have found to work is actually rebooting the
machine. By the way this is with connecting to the server using both a
Windows 2000 Client for VNC and a Mac Client for VNC.
Has anyone else experienced this problem in the past and found a
solution for it?
We used to have a Window NT 4.0 machine that it was installed on it and
it worked just fine. It wasn't until upgrading to a new version of
Windows and VNC that this issue surfaced.
