I need some help. I am trying to connect from behind a firewall using VNC viewer to a VNC server behind a firewall. It works on the same subnet but when I stick one machine on a different subnet it won't at all. I have taken the firewalls out of the picture and connected to the server. Any ideas?
This sounds more like a routing problem then a VNC problem. How are you
routing between the subnets?
I am using a SMC 7004abr and a SMC7004vbr. both have Virtual ports set to 5900 and 5800
The firewall which the client machine is sitting behind shouldn't need any special configuration, only the firewall protecting the server. In your SMC, do you have the virtual ports pointing to the correct IP? Did you enable it (little check box), did you restart the firewall after making the changes?
