I have a Windows 2000 Pro machine with vnc set up. It works fine when
the machine is not locked. The problem is that I can't connect when the
machine is locked. I have confirmed that ZoneAlarm is not the problem
since I can connect all I want when the machine is not locked and
ZoneAlarm loaded. It used to work just fine when my machine was locked.
Vnc would load and I would be able to see the screen and enter my
password to unlock the computer, and ZoneAlarm was runnning then, too,
so that is not the problem. Now, when my machine is locked and I try to
connect with the vncviewer, it will ask me for the IP address, and then
when I hit connect it just quits. Also, the java viewer won't display
anything either.
Please don't tell me to leave my computer unlocked when I'm away as a
workaround as I don't like to do that. What I do is set vnc to lock my
computer as soon as I disconnect. I also don't like to log out as
waiting for it to log in is a waste of time, and I like to leave my aim
running so I can still get messages when I'm away. I haven't tried it
with logging out andn I wouldn't want to even if that worked. I should
be able to connect with vnc like I used to with my computer locked.
Does anyone know of any real workarounds to this so that I can have my
computer locked and connect with vnc? I have been up and down searching
the archive and haven't found any solutions, so I don't know what else
to do. Any answers are greatly appreciated.
