Hi- I've scoured the archives and don't see anything precisely pertinent to my problem. Hoping someone can help. I want to test VNC by using a Windows ME laptop as a client to control a Windows XP Home desktop (the server). The laptop is using a dialup connection (via Earthlink). The desktop (in the same room as the laptop) uses a DSL connection. I've installed the server and client software on both machines and gone online, but cannot get a connection to work in either direction. Even the IP address VNC sent me in acknowledging this mailing list subscription (for my desktop PC) is being rejected at the ping level. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.
