You could open the port completely, and trust VNC and a very,very,very good password.
Or, you could configure a SSH server on your network and connect with the tunnel (with port forwarding). It would provide encryption and another set of passwords for connection. The other option is to replace the router with a full linux/bsd firewall where you can selectively open ports. And not the crude functionality of most commercial software firewalls or basic routers. Also, it can be the SSH server, so you could use the SSH port forwarding. These are summary solutions, if any sound interesting I can go into more detail. Joe Kexel >Jonathan C.
