I run RealVNC 3.3.7 on three Windows boxes here -- two running Windows 2000, one running Windows XP. I too have problems with the service frequently aborting when I try to connect. I have not found the source of the problem, or a real solution. What I did to work around it is to configure Windows to restart the service when it fails. Then, at least, the service will restart automatically and I can try again to connect a short time later. Usually (but not always) it only crashes the first time I try to connect. It seems that sometimes I have to manually restart the service or reboot the computer. I have not tried RealVNC 4, nor have I tried any serious troubleshooting.

I've had one response to this suggesting I update to RealVNC 4b4. Thanks, but I have to believe that others have run into the same issue of the "winvnc" service stopping unexpectantly. If anyone has any other suggestions for me regarding this issue, please... I'm all ears.
Thanks!

I have tried running RealVNC 3.3.7, and am now using "[EMAIL PROTECTED] v1.0.0 Release Candidate 11b" on some NT 4.0 and Win2K servers.
A few of us (mainly another user within my department) have experienced problems when connecting (via default ports) and notice that the VNC service is no longer running on the remote server. This user (and myself) are becoming very frustrated in having to continually restart the service, and occasionally reboot the system to get things working properly again. I typically use the [EMAIL PROTECTED] Viewer, but occasionally the RealVNC Viewer to connect (if this matters).
