Here is my scenario:
I need to remotely administer 4 computers for my parents office in Tampa. I live in miami. Last week I went over to their office and installed the RealVNC server program in all the boxes (all of them run XP). They use Bellsouth DSL (dynamic IP only) and are behind a Linksys router (BEFSR41). All PCs are set for obtaining an IP automatically. I've gone ahead and set the linksys to be remotely administered and to be able to do remote updrades. In the FORWARD page of the linksysrouter, I've set it as follows: VNC 5900 to 5900 TCP UDP 192.168.1.100 enabled VNC 5900 to 5900 TCP UDP 192.168.1.101 enabled VNC 5900 to 5900 TCP UDP 192.168.1.102 enabled VNC 5900 to 5900 TCP UDP 192.168.1.103 enabled 100-103 is the usually IP range used at any given time by these 4 PCs. Since their DSL is dynamic, I'm using No-IP's dynamic service and client application to get the current IP address. I can connect to the linksys router and can connect to one PC. How can I specify VNC viewer to connect to a specific Computer. When I have connected it is usually to the wron computer. The only way I've figure to get around this is to delete all the entries above and just leave one with the IP I need. Is there a way I can connect to PC specifying a Computer name? Or will I have to give everyone an internal static IP address and specify it each time in the forward page of the router. Any suggestion will greatly be appreciated.
