Me and a friend use VNC to run a graphically-intensive program over
the internet. Despite the fact that we both have 2Mbit cable
connections, whoever's running the client gets the window update about
once per second. Now the thing is, we both have this exact same
program. So, theoretically, there could be a way of sending only
keystrokes and mouse positions across the line when we're both running
the same program. Since the programs have exactly the same responses,
VNC doesn't need to send the graphics along, and we get no choppiness.
To avoid desyncing problems, mouse and keyboard settings from the
server should be adopted by the client until the connection
terminates. Once in a while, VNC would take screenshots of each
program, and if they are not exactly the same, indicating a
discrepancy between program responses, it would fall back to how it
operates now and give a warning message.
Thoughts?
