Along with port forwarding, you ARE connecting to the dial up provider
(cable, whoever) IP address, and NOT 192.168.1.100, right? You will have to
connect to something like 168.47.28.19 which is assigned to you, then the
router will forward those ports to the internal system which uses addresses
which are not accessible from the outside world (since the 192.168.1.nnn is
a default, there are probably a million or so 192.186.1.100's!)

Even though technically, most providers will tell you that this address is
not a static IP, from a practical standpoint it rarely changes unless they
modify their sytem upstream from you. Just be aware that after a router
reboot someday, you MAY have a different external IP address!

Subject: Help Needed with VNC

> Hi, Guys,
>
> I am trying to access my home PC and wife's machine from outside. I have
installed VNC server on both the machines. I am able to connect to each
other inside our home using 198.x.x.x. I have followed some of the posts on
setting ports forwarded, I have linksys wireless router, I have set up that
as following.
> VNC 5900 to 5900 TCP UDP 192.168.1.100 enabled
>
> VNC 5901 to 5900 TCP UDP 192.168.1.101 enabled

(http://faq.gotomyvnc.com/fom-serve/cache/133.html) the scanner is unable to
make connection nor am I able to connect to it using IE or VNC Viewer.

and Port triggering, do I need to do anything with these buttons? I have
just clicked the apply button and I got a message back saying that settings
were successful. ( as you can tell I am a novice when it comes to network
issues).
