Hi Raphael,

I haven't been using RealVNC for a very long time and since my
installation went very smooth, I'm not too sure about the messages
below.

Can you send along the exact commands that you used to execute
Xvnc/vncviewer/etc...?

Subject: Re: customer support with VNC (both PC behind a firewall)

first of all: thanks for your answer!

i've tried to perform all the steps you've described. what i've done (in

short):
    - linux box 1: started Xrealvnc with your parameters (except the
java stuff)
    - windows box 1: started vncviewer in listen-mode
    - windows box 2: started vncserver and "said" add new client, added
then linux-box 1:port
linux box 1 then "sees" the connecting windows box 2, but stops with an
error:

Got connection from client 192.168.1.33
Protocol version 3.3
Pixel format for client 192.168.1.33:
128 bpp, depth 3, little endian
  true colour: max r 2048 g 256 b 1792, shift r 7 g 0 b 3
rfbSetTranslateFunction: client bits per pixel not 8, 16 or 32
Client 192.168.1.33 gone
Statistics:
  framebuffer updates 0, rectangles 0, bytes 0
(note: "true colour" is not right here, this "screenshot" was taken with

the linux box2 (see below), important seams to be the 128 bpp)

i've played around with resolution and color-depth of my windows (by
really changing the settings in control panel).
i also changed windows box 2 (the one that finally should share it's
display) by an other linux box, then i got

17/02/04 17:02:00 Got connection from client 192.168.1.33
17/02/04 17:02:00 Protocol version 3.3
17/02/04 17:02:00 Pixel format for client 192.168.1.33:
17/02/04 17:02:00 0 bpp, depth 3, little endian
17/02/04 17:02:00 true colour: max r 2048 g 256 b 1792, shift r 7 g 0
b 3
17/02/04 17:02:00 rfbSetTranslateFunction: client bits per pixel not 8,
16 or 32
17/02/04 17:02:00 Client 192.168.1.33 gone
17/02/04 17:02:00 Statistics:
17/02/04 17:02:00 framebuffer updates 0, rectangles 0, bytes 0

i really have no clue how to change the "bpp"'s... (as far as i
understood, the bpp have to be the same for both system! but how to
adapt them?)

could someone help me, please.

thanks!
