System and software
Dell PowerEdge 2600 run RedHat Linux 7.3 2.4.18 kernel vnc-server-3.3.3r2-28.2 tightvnc-1.2.9 client and have also tried other vnc clients

an example:
Any help would be very much appreciated!
Start a session & attach to the Xvnc pid using "strace". The output from strace might give you some idea of what Xvnc is doing
