Well the problem here is that when I say it sends "screenshots", I mean its 
literally sending bitmaps of what the screen looks like.  Its like hitting the 
print screen button and having the output piped to a socket (obviously more 
complex).  What doesn't get sent over the socket are details about the actual 
content.

When I say "yes they can be combined into an install", what I mean is that I 
have no heard of a solution other than a commercial version of VNC called VNC 
Pro: http://www.tridiavncpro.com/product/index.php?pc=GOOGLEVNC2

With a rather minimal amount of work however, it could be accomplished.
