I then tried the binaries released from realvnc.com, to see if there was a difference, and it worked just as well, with the same crashes.
I'm now trying the vnc-server-4.0-3 from the fedora core development branch, with libstdc++34, to see if it has better results. I'm actually writing this email connected to my computer through VNC to see if it crashes.

Are you using the vnc-server package that comes with Fedora Core 2, or one you compiled yourself?
