Wez,
Thanks --the work-around you describe below seems to work. However, I tried vnc 3.3.7 again, and it works in full-screen mode (i.e. covers the task bar) without having to employ the work around. Is there any way to make full-screen mode in 4.0 work like it did in 3.3.7? (I realize I can simply use 3.3.7 for now, but if 4.x is the future development path, there would be no way to stay current with the newer releases.)
I don't want to sound unappreciative -- VNC is an amazingly useful tool, and the vnc team has done some amazing work; I just don't understand how this "bug" can be a feature of windows in vnc 4.0, but not in 3.3.7... Is there some way to fake the windows events inside the 4.0 viewer when full-screen is selected to simulate clicking on the task bar and back again and thus work around this problem? Lots of other programs seem to work fine in full screen (IE, powerpoint, remote desktop, most video/dvd players, etc...) so there's got to be a away to make it work.
(I wouldn't care so much myself, but I provide de facto IT support for a lot of semi-literate computer users [family, friends, co-workers] who all find this very confusing.)
Thanks!

Click on the (local) taskbar so that it has focus, then click back inside the full-screen viewer window. The viewer should then cover the taskbar.
This is a featurette of Windows.
