Ronald,
FYI - when replying using a client like Outlook Express, do a "Reply All" or it doesn't go to the mailing list. ;)
You need them to tell you the IP if you're going to connect to them. Dynamic DNS as Arthur mentions is one way to accomplish this.
An alternative, if it is on-demand help and YOU have a static IP (or can tell them what it is) is to have their server connect to you. Here's how you do that.
+ Start VNC Viewer on your machine with the -listen commandline option. This makes VNCViewer run and wait for a server to connect to IT.
+ They need to run the server with the -connect commandline option. When the IP box pops up, they plug in their IP address.

I'm not in front of the server. It is remote. How do I find the IP of a server I am not in front of? Thanks anyway

server icon.
Alternate technique: Assuming this is an NT-family operating system or Win98/Me, open a command prompt window (Start | Run; type in "command" on Win98/Me, "cmd" on NT/2000/XP/2003; hit "OK"). When it pops up, type in ipconfig and hit enter. You will see ALL IP addresses for the system.
On Windows 95/98/Me, you can alternately just go to Start | Run and type in "winipcfg" and hit OK to get a graphical listing of IP addresses.
Ronald Saa wrote:Hi All, I have 2 computers that can VNC each other after they go online via IE6. Of course I have to email the Server's IP to the Client.
But I also know how to connect them by Dial-up networking without using IE6., which means no one has to be at the Server side.
Heres my question: After the connection is made via Dial-Up Networking, how do I find the Server's newly assigned IP address.
I can understand why this may be impossible before connecting, but after a Dial-up Connection is made, I think someone out there must know of a way.
