Ah, I think I've got an answer - at least part of one. In
xc/config/cf/X11.tmpl I changed
#define BuildScreenSaverExt NO
to
#define BuildScreenSaverExt YES
Now, when I run "xdpyinfo" in the session, MIT-SCREEN-SAVER is listed as
one of the extensions and our dt sessions no longer lock up. You
may want to verify that -DSCRRENSAVER is now included when the server is
built (and that it was not present before)
