Ron, I'm not quite sure what is happening but there are two connection definitions in XP for the configuration you describe - one for the LAN connection and another for the dial-up connection. Look at TCP/IP the properties for each (Open Network Connections/Connections/Properties/Internet Protocol/Properties). My guess is that the LAN is set to static and the dial-up is set to dynamic. Most ISPs who use static addressing for dial-up (or any connection) use a static address assigned out of THEIR pool - talk to the ISP but keep in mind that static addresses are unusual (for that read 'extra cost item') for them (particularly on non-business accounts)

"PPP adapter MCI:"-information 67.192.aaa.bbb Question 2: Does this mean that once Comp-B logs onto the internet via dial-up modem, its IP number changes from its regular static IP, to some new dynamic IP from MCI?
