Turns out I had 2 instances of VNC installed on my server machine. Not sure whether I had accidentally done that or the IT people had put one on (realVNC and tightVNC). They claimed they hadn't.

I suppose what might have happened is that somehow the startup order changed, and so all of a sudden I was trying to connect to a different server instance where I hadn't set the password I expected.

Anyway. My bad.

Okay, for several months I've been using RealVNC to connect to my work machine, through a VPN. It's been working fine.

Suddenly I can no longer authenticate. I start the VNC client, it comes back with the password prompt, and then I get an "authentication failed" message.

I don't have caps-lock on or anything like that. I'm about 99.9999% sure I've got the right password. Any ideas why this would suddenly stpo working? Anything I can look at (logs etc) to try and figure out what's going on all of a sudden?

Thanks,
