I have VNC Server running on both machines, but I can't get them to
connect over the internet. I can get two computers to connect over a
my local network, but I can't connect to the other XP box over the
internet. I have port forwarding set up on both machines, and I have
also set the XP firewall to accept port 5900. On the Status page for
the Linksys router on the server end, it says "IP Address" and
"Default Gateway." I'm not sure which one I'm supposed to be trying to
connect to, but when I try to connect to IP Address the connection
times out. When I try to connect to Default Gateway it says
"connection refused." The "IP Address" is what allows me to remotely
manage the router through the web, so I would assume that's the public
IP Address of the router that I would want to connect to using VNC,
which would then forward it to the machine on the other end of the
router. But again, the connection times out when I try it. Any
suggestions?
