William, James,

While some people might see it as an improvement to see the whole virtual
desktop in some situations, I cant.
Sorry that I said "bug", but to me as a developer it's a fault to change an
accepted behaviour without giving the user a chance to choose. So that's my
#1...

1. If someone needs that and others dont, why cant it be switched on and
off?

2. I got a 1600x1200 display at home. At the office I got the same plus a
15" display used to move the application screen out of the way while
debugging it. Why would I want to see that enormous surface when connecting
to the office from home? Have you ever tried it? You start off in the center
of nowhere!

3. The smaller display is at lower left (physically!) so that I have to move
the mouse almost exactly into the corner of the display to get to the other
screen. This helps extremely in not unwillingly moving aroung the displays.
Working with 2 displays side by side may be good for some applications but
if you're developing and debugging it's no good (it was unuseable in W2K).

4. "Desktop options not working": when connecting to the XP machine first
thing I saw was my wallpaper taking a lot of time to be displayed twice
(remember, 2 displays) - no matter if I switch "Remove wallpaper" on or off.
I really cant swear if the other options worked because I uninstalled V4 on
the XP machine.
PLUS: I disabled ALL XP-features that use or may use CPU... no shadows, no
dynamic gimmicks, no themes, no nothing (all services that are not essential
are disabled).

So far so good.
>From your answers and questions I guess that I'm the only one to use VNC in
such an environment and will have to stick to 3.3.7 :-(
BTW - I use it on 4 other systems like everybody else: controlling servers.

Robert
